Welcome!

My name is Laura, But you can think of me as:

a bridge Connecting two worlds: mechanical engineering & systems design.

I am on a mission to build solutions that creatively tackle our world's most wicked problems,
prioritizing long-term thinking, compassionate action, and widespread impact.

My journey begins
with the messy, smelly and ever growing problem that is...waste.

luckily, I find myself ready at the intersection where
manufacturing and materials management meets human behaviors and habits.

to me, the solution is simple: circles.

the challenge will be proving this, and convincing the world
that a circular economy is the future.

allow me to begin with you!

SELECT PROJECTS

As a multi-faceted creator, I explore a variety of media and scales in my work. Through my experiences working with behavior science, systemic 'wicked' problems and technical manufacturing processes, I have been rounding out my depth in the areas I find most pertinent to approaching waste generation and management.

FLAIR JEANS

ABOUT ME

Fancy seeing you here!

With a strong sense of purpose and love for learning, I am on a journey to become a multi-faceted creator attacking the complex problems facing our planet and society.

As an innovator, I thrive in multi-disciplinary settings dedicated to solving open-ended problems using iterative approaches to create long-lasting change.

As a mechanical engineer, I compulsively dissect the functionality of things and systems to understand how they work and how they may be improved.

As a creative technologist, I understand the power of the tools we have today and seek to apply them to seamlessly enhance human experiences.

As a naturist, I awe at the circular systems that allow life to thrive and continuously adapt, and look to the natural world for inspiration.

As a latina, I carry warmth and laughter, and have a broad perspective that allows me to widen the impact of my work.

As a designer, I harness my empathetic and creative nature to sense my landscapes, seek to understand the forces and currents that shape our surroundings and cultivate novel ideas to meet needs with a deep appreciation for unintended consequences, agility in resolution and respect for the cultures and living beings my work may affect. .

Looking ahead, I aim to use my powers for good - building products I believe in with brilliant teammates.

Series of Monotype Prints,
2025, sizes varied

I am in constant awe of the complexity, beauty and wisdom of nature and its bountiful wonders at every scale. The Earth, in its ancient wisdom, has much to teach us if we are willing to pay attention. My favorite way to do this, is sitting on a bench. They are often strategically placed facing an enticing view or under a shaded tree. Benches invite us to take a beat, enjoy the company of loved ones or strangers, and make new memories that develop slowly within us like a long exposure photo. In this fast-paced society, the act of slowing down can be seen as unnecessary or even wrong. But I think that this act is vital to our growth and possible impact. Today’s systemic challenges require novel solutions rooted in collaboration and consideration. Next time you encounter a bench outdoors, take a seat and look up, down and all around you. You never know what you may notice – and what it can inspire within.
